I am running for the school board because I believe in creating an educational environment where every student can thrive. As an educator and a parent, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education and the importance of fostering a sense of belonging in our schools. I am passionate about ensuring that all students, regardless of their background, have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to succeed. By serving on the school board, I hope to expand my impact beyond my current role as Principal of Summit Prep, advocating for policies that prioritize the diverse needs of our students and empower them to reach their full potential.
MY WHY
Championing Belonging and Preparedness
My vision for the Sequoia Union High School District is to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and prepared for their future. I believe that a strong sense of belonging is essential for student success. When students feel truly connected to their school community, they are more likely to engage fully in their education and reach their full potential. Our schools must not only equip students with the academic skills necessary for college or career but also instill in them the confidence and sense of belonging that will carry them forward in life. By championing this vision, I aim to ensure that every student’s educational journey is marked by support, encouragement, and the opportunity to rise to the challenges ahead.
Educator’s Voice on the Board
With over 15 years of experience as an educator, I understand the intricacies of our education system from the inside. Having an educator on the School Board ensures that decisions are informed by firsthand experience and that the diverse needs of all students are prioritized. I believe that leadership in education should be rooted in understanding the day-to-day realities of our classrooms and the challenges our teachers and students face. My experience as the Principal of a public school has shown me the impact that thoughtful, informed decision-making can have on student success, and I am eager to bring this perspective to the broader district.
Equity in Education
Every student learns differently, and our education system must be flexible enough to accommodate these differences. I am a strong advocate for equitable access to rigorous courses and a variety of educational options that empower students to find the right fit for their individual paths. Students and families should have the ability to make informed decisions about their child’s education at every step of their journey.
Comprehensive Approach to Student Success
Education is not a one-issue topic; it is multifaceted, just like our students. My approach to leadership will be comprehensive, addressing a wide range of issues that impact all students. From mental health support to academic rigor, from extracurricular opportunities to college and career readiness, I am committed to making decisions that prioritize the best interests of our students. I will work to ensure that every student has the resources and support they need to succeed, both in and out of the classroom.
